We at CiiRUS hold your account security in the highest regard. This means that your account should only be accessed by those authorized to do so, even if they know your account details. Until today, we have utilized two-factor authentication by email or SMS to confirm the user’s identity prior to allowing them to log in. As part of our efforts to make the two-factor verification process as efficient as possible, we are introducing a third method: Google Authenticator. Google Authenticator can be set up in both CiiRUS One and the Windows App, and the setup process will only take a few minutes. Once you’ve followed these initial steps, future verification will happen in seconds – you will always have a working verification code right in your pocket!
What are the benefits of using Google Authenticator?
Not only is it secure, but it also makes the login process more accessible than ever. And don’t bother waiting for an email or SMS message to securely access your CiiRUS account as you did in the past. Follow these steps below to get started.
Steps to the Setup Process:
Step 1: Download Google Authenticator
Step 2: Change the Verification Method
In CiiRUS One:
Login to your CiiRUS One account to change the verification method to Google Authenticator. Once you have logged in, click the “User” icon at the top-right corner of the screen. Next, select “User Details,“ and then click the “Google Authenticator” button, and “Save.” A dialogue box will pop-up to offer some more information and gives you the opportunity to confirm your change to Google Authenticator. Click on “Select Google Authenticator” and “Save.“
In the Windows App:
Login to your CiiRUS account using the CiiRUS Windows App. Navigate to the “Account Settings”, and click “Edit Contact Details”. Next, select the “Google Authenticator” button, and click “OK” to save.
Step 3: Barcode Scan
After you have successfully changed the verification method in your account, you will receive an email from email@example.com containing a QR code.
Once you have successfully received the QR code, open the Google Authenticator application and select “Begin Setup”. Next, click “Scan barcode” to open your phone’s camera and scan the QR code from the email.
A six-digit code will display in the Google Authenticator dashboard after the scan is complete, as shown below.
Note: The six-digit code automatically changes every 30 seconds.
At any given time, a verification code will appear as it shows in the image below, rather than receiving an email or SMS message to verify your account. Simply enter this code to complete your login from now on. You can follow the first few steps of this guide to change back to email or SMS verification at any time.
